Buckeye necklace with five brown Buckeye seeds and thirteen wooden beads, threaded onto narrow black ribbon. A descriptive card accompanying the object reads "Buckeye necklace/ A gift from a Springfield host family/ Buckeye is a State Symbol of Ohio and is a/ seed from the Buckeye tree. These large/ shiny brown seeds resemble the eye of a/ male/buck deer. Native Americans used the/ buckeyes as a source of food and also in/ handicrafts."
