Description
Charcoal and white chalk protrait of Lord Casey, based on a black and white photograph. Framed and mounted.

On 15 December 1994, the City of Casey was named in recognition of the significant contributions to the region and to Australis of Lord Richard Gavin Gardiner Casey and Lady Maie Casey who lived on the property 'Edrington' in Berwick, a property of State Significance to Victoria. Lord Casey (1890-1976) was an engineer, diplomat, and had a long and distinguished political career serving as Federal Treasurer in 1935 and many other prominent positions including Governor of Bengal from 1944 to 1947 and Governor General of Australia from 1965 to 1970.
