Description
Black framed photograph, description and tartan for the Casey Pipe Band with green and gold mats.

Gold plaque at the top of the arrangement states "CASEY PIPE BAND". Immediately below this to the left is a swatch of the Hay Tartan and to the right an image of the pipe band at the 2004 Berwick Show. Below the tartan is the caption "Original Hay Tartan - as worn by the members of the Casey Pipe Band". And below the photograph is a caption "Pipers at 2004 Berwick Show L-R: Marie Everett - Piper + President,/ Jamie Chard - Piper, Christee Hutchinson - Piper + Pipe Major, Mal Norris - Piper,/ Hector Macdonald - Piper, Kim Jones - Piper + Pipe Sergeant."

Beneath the captions is the description "The City of Casey Pipe Band originated in Springvale in early 1970s, as the Springvale Pipe Band. The Band moved to Berwick from Springvale around 1982 as the/ Berwick and District Pipes and Drums. In recognition of the support given by the then Berwick Council and its sister city relationship with Berwick-upon-Tweed on the/ eastern Scotland/England border, the Hay tartan, being one of the district's tartan, was adopted by the Band. A tradition established at the time also sees each Mayor/ of the City of Casey hold the position of Band Chieftain./ There are two accounts concerning the origins of the Hay Tartan. The first concerns the battle of Lucarty, believed to have taken place around 971 AD (Martine 1998)./ The second derives from the name Hay - the Hay Clan are descendants of William de la Haye who travelled to Scotland around 1160 AD, married a Celtic Heiress and/ inherited the lands of Errol about 1180 AD./ The Casey Pipe Band and committee members give their time voluntarily. The Band participates in community events such as; the annual Berwick Highland Gathering,/ Mayoral Charity Concerts, Community Volunteer Awards, Citizenship Ceremonies, Anzac (sic) Commemoration Marches, the Berwick Show as well as events across/ Melbourne and country Victoria./ With special thanks to Neil Connell and Ron Berry."
