Framed colour photograph of local pipers attending Edinburgh Military Tattoo, August 1988. The City of Casey Pipe Band originated in Springvale in early 1970s, as the Springvale Pipe Band. The Band moved to Berwick from Springvale around 1982 as the Berwick and District Pipes and Drums. In recognition of the support given by the then Berwick Council and its sister city relationship with Berwick-upon-Tweed on the eastern Scotland/England border, the Hay tartan, being one of the district's tartan, was adopted by the Band. A tradition established at the time also sees each Mayor of the City of Casey hold the position of Band Chieftain.
