Description
Framed ceramic tile with abstract geometric imagery based on a design by Frank Lloyd Wright. The design shows rectangular and square forms in tones of blue, gold, cream and green over a lime background. Discontinued design.

Motawi Tileworks partnered with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to create a series of art tiles that are adapted from Wright's portfolio of work.

Motawi Tiles (2016) has written about the history of the design, stating “Believing the architect should create total environments, Frank Lloyd Wright's designs included art glass windows, furniture, and lighting. This tile is adapted from a watercolor of a tapestry rug planned for the Avery Coonley House. Designed between 1906 and 1908, the rug was never executed.”

A printed label accompanying the object reads "Tiles from the Frank Lloyd/ Wright Design/ Collection./ A gift from the City of Springfield to the City/ of Casey in appreciation for participation in/ the 2008 Connolly Games/ sporting & cultural exchange in/ Springfield, Ohio, USA."
