Description
Framed ceramic tile with abstract geometric imagery based on a design by Frank Lloyd Wright. The design shows circular, square and rectangular shapes in colours of cream, black, maroon, orange and blue. Discontinued design.

Motawi Tileworks partnered with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to create a series of art tiles that are adapted from Wright's portfolio of work.

A listing on WorthPoint.com of the same tile shows an image of the back of the tile with a printed label from Motawi Tiles that reads “COONLEY PLAYHOUSE TRIPTYCH DECORATIVE TILE. Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) is considered the greatest American architect of the 20th century. The design for this tile was adapted from a detail of the ‘balloons and confetti’ motif found in Mr. Wright’s drawings for the Coonley Playhouse Triptych Art Glass Windows in Riverside, Illinois, circa 1912.”

A printed label accompanying the object reads "Tiles from the Frank Lloyd/ Wright Design/ Collection./ A gift from the City of Springfield to the City/ of Casey in appreciation for participation in/ the 2008 Connolly Games/ sporting & cultural exchange in/ Springfield, Ohio, USA."
