Description
Circular brass medallion mounted on a circular piece of limestone. The medallion shows the State of Ohio Seal, including the text "STATE OF OHIO" along the upper edge, seven stars along the lower edge, and an images in the centre of a fields, mountains and a rising sun. The rising sun with thirteen rays symbolise the original thirteen colonies. A sheaf of wheat stands in the foreground as a symbol of agriculture and bounty. Standing next to the wheat is a bundle of seventeen arrows representing Ohio's Native Americans and also symbolizing Ohio as the seventeenth state to enter the Union.

A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the object, and includes the Columbus Ohio State House Museum stamp and reads "Certificate of/ Authenticity/ This paperweight is made of Columbus/ Limestone salvaged during the Ohio/ Statehouse restoration project./ Ronald T. Keller/ Capitol Square Review & Advisory Board" and includes the signature of Ronald T. Keller in blue ink.

Although the item is not dated, the State House of Ohio restoration project began in 1989 and concluded in 1993.
