Description
Copper medallion. Front shows a cast relief the first President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Dimitriod Vikelas, and the Panathinaikon Stadium. Inscription on the boarder reads "100 XPONIA EΠITPOΠH OΛΥΜΠΙΑΚΩΝ ΑΓΩΝΩΝ 1894 - 1994". The reverse shows a cast relief of seated Nike holding laurel wreath over a phoenix emerging from flames, and the Acropolis in background. Greek text incorporated with the design reads "OΛΥΜΠΙΑΚOI/ ΑΓΩΝEΣ/ 775ΠX.896/ AOHNAI".

Certificate of authenticity included with the medallion. It reads "CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY/ Athens, November 1994/ This medal is (error) been created in commemoration of the Centennial/ Anniversary of the Hellenic Olympic Committee with was/ established in 1894./ One side of the medal shows a relief created by sculptress Mrs./ Thelxiope Theochari showing the Panathinaikon Stadium and/ the First President of the International Olympic Committee/ Mr. Dimitriod Vikelas. the efforts of whom contributed for the/ choice of Athens as the site of the 1st Olympic games in 1896./ The other side of the medal is based on a design by Nikiphoros/ Lytras and is a replica of the commemorative medal issued in/ 1896./ For the Hellenic Olympic Committee/ the President/ Antonis Tzikas"
